WHAT TO EXPECT

Expect to walk into a family gathering. Our church has a warm, family-feel to it; we hope guests will recognize our friendliness from their very first visit. Worship is an important time for the church.

It is a time when we go to God together; where we can, with one voice, lift our prayers, praise, burdens, questions and adoration for God. Though there is something very special about community worship, we recognize and celebrate the diversity that each person brings to the table!

When you join us, with your personality and your unique spirit, you only add to the beauty of our worship. So come! It doesn’t matter where you’re from, what you look like, or how you are dressed.

Simply come as you are!

THE SANDY PLAINS STORY IS ONE FILLED WITH DEPTH AND HISTORY & IT IS A STORY FILLED WITH HOPE FOR WHAT IS TO COME.

CONSTITUTED LONG AGO ON A FRIDAY IN MARCH IN 1854.  OVER 150 YEARS LATER, OUR DOORS ARE STILL OPEN FOR PEOPLE TO MEET JESUS.

When the best stories are told, it’s often the plot that comes alive.  It’s what happens in the story.  The action that takes place.  The big events that shape the life of a community.  Certainly Sandy Plains Baptist Church is not without its highlights… from constructing our buildings where we worship and study Scriptures, to the building of our facilities where we fellowship together and reach out to our community.  We’ve cooked BBQ, walked through “Bethlehem”, traveled across the world in Jesus’ name, and shared God’s love with those right here in New House.

But when sharing the account of God’s people, the plot is important to be sure, but the characters are who ultimately carry the story.  Sandy Plains Baptist Church is no different – we have done some amazing things in our history, but it has been and always will be the people of God who live out God’s call on their lives that is the heart of Sandy Plains.  From the 29 pastors throughout our church’s history to the nearly 100 deacons that have served our church, our leadership has always kept a focused vision of serving God and serving others.  Our countless lay members have made Sandy Plains Baptist Church a place where guests and members alike feel accepted as part of a loving family, and this has never been truer than it is this very day.  The people at our church, through the efforts of what we have done in God’s name, truly seek to reach out and be the presence of Christ in our community and throughout the world.

Sir Isaac Newton once said, If we have seen further, it is because we are standing on the shoulders of giants.  Indeed, we who are a part of the family community here at Sandy Plains stand on the shoulders of all who have come before us.  We have accomplished much because those who came before us were faithful to accomplish much when they bore the mantle of leadership.  That mantle is now ours. For those who will come after us, we too seek to be faithful, sturdy shoulders.  Come be a part of all we’re doing here at Sandy Plains – it’s our chapter of the story to tell…
